8th Annual Mayor's Back 2 School Fest earns an A+
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner had his height and weight checked by Kelsey-Seybold as KelseyBear gave high-fives and bear hugs to the elementary school students who visited the Kelsey-Seybold station at the City of Houston's 7th Annual Mayor's Back 2 School Fest on Aug. 12. The event helps children prepare for the new school year with free health screenings, school supplies, and more.
An estimated 25,000 pre-registered children attended the event at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Back to School Fest is designed to help economically disadvantaged Houston-area students in kindergarten through fifth grade, and their families, prepare for the new school year. Attendees received backpacks, school supplies, immunizations, vision screenings, dental check-ups, haircut vouchers, lessons in hygiene, and undergarments.
Kelsey-Seybold was an event sponsor and provided height and weight checks and pencil pouches stuffed with school supplies to help get students ready for the first day back to school.
