2018
In February, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic earned national recognition by the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association for the Target: BP RecognitionTM Program awards for efforts aimed at prioritizing blood pressure control. Kelsey-Seybold Clinic is the largest group in Houston to receive this recognition.
In April, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic’s Cancer Center became the first facility in the Houston area to offer The Calypso tumor tracking system for patients undergoing prostate cancer treatment. Calypso is a game-changer for areas of the body where motion is variable and unpredictable.
In April, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic – Cancer Center completed a three-year certification program for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that met nationally recognized standards for quality cancer care. As a result, it has been recognized by the QOPI® Certification Program (QCP™), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO®), the largest oncology center in the United States.
In May, Kelsey Research Foundation raised $225,000 at its 24th Annual Golf Classic to fund patient programs and medical research as part of Kelsey Research Foundation.
Kelsey-Seybold rejoined Aetna’s network July 1 to cover members at the in-network level of benefits. This affected Kelsey-Seybold patients enrolled in a standard commercial Aetna PPO, POS Choice II plan.
After much success in 2017, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic enhanced its telemedicine services with expanded hours, specialties, and treatable conditions in June 2018. E-visits and Video Visits offer medical visits through a secure electronic or live video exchange.
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic received the American Heart Association’s Check.Change.Control.Cholesterol™ Gold award in September in recognition of its commitment to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke through improved cholesterol management.
In November, Houston Chronicle named Kelsey-Seybold Clinic a 2018 Top Workplaces Award, which is based solely on employee feedback.
Upon completion of its five-month, $1.2-million renovation and expansion, Kelsey-Seybold’s The Woodlands OB/GYN Clinic – now known as the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic – The Woodlands Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health – received a new name to better reflect its service offerings.
2019
On March 15, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic celebrated 70 years of patient care in the Greater Houston area, a rare milestone for a physician-owned and operated multispecialty practice. Seventy years after its founding, Kelsey-Seybold had 425 providers caring for a half-million patients annually in more than 55 medical specialties at 20 Houston-area locations.
In October, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic earned Gold-level recognition in the Target: BP RecognitionTM Program for helping improve blood pressure control rates. This national program is a collaboration between the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Medical Association (AMA).
In October, KelseyCare Advantage achieved a 5-out-of-5-star rating for the fourth year in a row, the highest possible rating by the Centers for the Medicaid and Medicare Services. This plan was the only 5-out-of-5 star rated Medicare Advantage plan in the Houston area for the 2020 plan year.
In October, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic received a Gold TMF Physician Practice Quality Improvement Award for improving patient outcomes in high-priority clinical areas while applying innovative strategies to advance quality healthcare.
In November, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic received the American Heart Association’s Check.Change.Control.Cholesterol™ Gold award for its commitment to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke through improved cholesterol management.
Kelsey-Seybold partnered with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) on a new multi-year contract. This agreement ensured most BCBSTX members can receive in-network care at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic locations in the Houston region starting in 2020.
Also in 2019, Kelsey-Seybold opened its doors to patients at new clinic locations in Baytown and Cypress.
2020
The American Heart Association awarded Kelsey-Seybold Clinic the Target: Type 2 DiabetesTM Gold Award for its commitment and quality improvement measures to help patients with Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors.

The Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center at Berthelsen Main Campus ranked high on Newsweek’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2021 List. Kelsey-Seybold ranked 24th in Texas on this inaugural list announced Oct. 21, 2020.
Also in 2020, Kelsey-Seybold opened its doors to patients at new clinic locations in Kingwood, Conroe, West Grand Parkway in Katy, and the Esperson Tunnels in downtown Houston.
2021
Kelsey-Seybold and Humana joined to offer a new health plan product for employer groups with 5 – 99 employees in the Greater Houston area. “KelseyCare | Humana” plans began on Jan. 1, 2021, and included self-funded “level-funded” plans, which combine the flexibility of self-funding with predictable monthly budgeting.
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic partnered with Feaver Family Practice to fully integrate it into the Kelsey-Seybold multispecialty healthcare system. It became Kelsey-Seybold Clinic – Lake Jackson in April 2021.
In September, the Pasadena Clinic opened a 17,000-square-foot expansion to meet growing needs after nearly four decades in the area. This expansion nearly doubled the number of providers (from 15 to 27) and added rotations in adult primary care, Pulmonary Medicine, Neurology, OB/GYN, and Dermatology. Kelsey-Seybold is the first major healthcare provider with locations that surround the Ship Channel and its employment base in all directions.
The American Heart Association (AHA) awarded Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and KelseyCare Advantage multiple Gold AHA outpatient program awards in September for their commitment to reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke by improving high cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, and blood pressure management.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rated KelseyCare Advantage one of the nation’s highest-quality Medicare Advantage plans. For the sixth consecutive year, KelseyCare Advantage has achieved an overall rating of 5-out-of-5 stars as part of CMS' annual assessment of 471 eligible Medicare Advantage plans measured across the nation.
KelseyCare Advantage is one of only three Medicare Advantage plans in the United States that has achieved the CMS 5-star rating for at least six years in a row.
Also in 2021, Kelsey-Seybold opened its doors to patients at new clinic locations in Lake Jackson, North Channel, River Oaks, Gulfgate, Greater Heights, and Memorial City.
