Bachar Samra, MD, is a triple board-certified hematologist and oncologist at Kelsey-Seybold. After completing his medical degree at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, in 2012, he relocated to New York, where he completed both an internship and Internal Medicine residency at Northwell Health Staten Island University Hospital in 2014 and 2016, respectively. Dr. Samra also completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, in 2019 where he also served as Chief Fellow. Then he pursued Leukemia fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center . He joined Kelsey-Seybold in January 2025.

Dr. Samra’s passion for patient care inspires him to pursue the cutting edge of the scientific revolution in Oncology and Hematology. He provides care in all aspects of benign and malignant blood disorders and cancer, with a particular interest in hematologic malignancies, lung cancer, and community oncology. Dr. Samra’s favorite aspects of practicing medicine are the opportunities to build human connections and help people improve their health, especially in difficult times.

Dr. Samra believes that showing respect, establishing a good rapport, and getting to know the patient well as a whole are vital to building a trusting patient-physician relationship. He strives to be upfront and honest from day one, listening and communicating well to set expectations and goals and empower his patients with the understanding and knowledge they need to participate in their own care decisions. Dr. Samra also aspires to provide high-quality evidence-based medicine compassionately every day.

Outside of caring for patients, Dr. Samra enjoys sports, reading, music, family time, dining out, and traveling.
